The Bargain and Barter Club

The concept is simple I do you a favors, you do one for another member and they do one for me. All our lives improve. Of course some will do more than others, and some will find that they prefer to pay for services, while others who do more may like to turn some of the surplus into cash or the equivalent. So you need a bartering arrangement and a record system to back it up.

The Bargain and Barter club was set up as part of New Atlantis but then suspended before it got going, when the UK authorities threatened to prosecute us. There are a lot of small barter clubs within the UK, and it was not the tax loss that they complained about, but they threatened to prosecute us for encouraging people under 18 to become involved in credit transactions. 

Of course since then the Internet has more fully developed and New Atlantis has grown far more internationally. Eventually we will need to look at this again but operated over the internet, and managed by an entity from outside the UK.

The two documents you can read from here is the definition of how the B&B club was to operate and the rules of the club as they appeared in the 1996 members handbook. e feel that this now needs redefining and developing, and invite interest from those who may be interested to do this as a master franchisor. The only stipulation for your own security is that you need to be based in a country that will not persecute you for this, or buckle to pressure from countries who complain of loss of tax revenue.

The B&B club was originally going to be run by Atlantis Virtual World Ltd, who develop Internet sites and produce TV series.
